Code: M47 - Chippendale Ho Ho Brackets
These carved gilt-wood brackets are in the slyle of the mid 18th century. The mythological Ho Ho bird supports a shaped and moulded shelf on its head and grasps a C scroll in its claws. The scroll is decorated with acanthus leaves, flowers and other foliage. The Ho Ho bird, purely a mythological creature, is one of the decorative devices that were incorporated into the Chinoiseric styles for interiors, furniture, silver and porcelain that reflected the European fascination with the Orient.
