Code: M39 - Regency Side Table
This console table displays the best classical inspiration of the Regency period. In this example, the white marble top sits above a moulded frieze carved with Greek Key pattern fretwork flanked by leopard head carved masks. The turned and tapered, fluted legs have moulded and squared panelled collars above carved lion paw feet. The early 19th century abounds with designers and craftsmen pursuing the Regency style but it was Thomas Sheraton who was quick to sense the changes in taste that were taking place in the Royal palaces and amongst the aristocracy. The Regency is strictly the period between 1811 and 1820, but has developed to include furniture made between the late 1790s and the early 1840s.
