Code: M35 - George III Guitar Mirror

A small, carved gilt-wood looking glass in a swirling Rococo style frame incorporating many of the mid 18th century designers repertoire of vigorous leaf carved scrolls, leaves rind flowers.

The light and delicate Rococo style succeeded the Baroque and is characterized by freely handled S shapes and curves with naturalistically carved sprigs, leaves and flowers. Occasionally incorporating Chinoiserie and Gothic elements it proved highly popular in mid 18th century England.
