Code: M32 - Regency Hope Bench

A carved and gilded window seat in the English Regency style. The upholstered and gently curved moulded ends are decorated with carved paterae and rest on Greek key pattern carved rails. The short, lotus leaf shaped legs are centred with paterae and raised on turned bun feet.

In the high Regency style, these versatile window benches would sit well in window recesses and would also be suitable at the foot of a pair of beds. The Regency style in England incorporated many of the Classical forms of ancient Greece and Rome that were reinterpreted bv many leading designers.
