Code: M31 - George II Vitruvian Side Table

A Neo-classical gilt wood side table wilh marble top above a panelled frieze decorated with a carved Vitruvian scroll. The square tapered and fluted legs are headed by paterae, carved collars, and are raised on lion paw feet.

This table represents the grand elegance of The English Georgian period. As wealth grew through a combination of trade, commerce and traditional land holdings, grand houses were refurbished and new ones were built. New architects and designers, together with craftsmen and cabinet-makers stretched themselves to produce the finest quality furniture and furnishings in the new fashions for the Rococo and the Neo-Classical.
