Code: M186 - The Goodison Fox Side Table
A polished limestone top supported by a seated stylised fox to each corner flanking scrolling acanthus and oak-leaf swags centred by a female mask above a scallop shell. This impressive console table is an example by Benjamin Goodison, circa 1740. The originals now reside in the Victoria and Albert Museum, see Chrispother Wilk (ed) Western Furniture 1350 to the Present Day, Victoria and Albert Museum, 1995, p230.
