Code: M13 - George II Cartouche Wall Light

This carved gilt-wood wall light in the style of George II and the 1730s, is in the form of a cartouche. Fitted with a leaf cast, scrolling candle arm, it is decorated with vigorous acanthus leaf scrolls and a mask.

A cartouche is an ornamental panel, often in the form of a scroll or sheet of paper with curling edges, usually bearing a family crest or an inscription. In this carved wood example the flickering candlelight can reflect on the gilded surface.
