Code: CH11 - Walpole Chair

A George I carved giltwood and gilt gesso state/dining chair, intricately carved with feathers, husks, egg and dart, acanthus and plumed Indian masks, on a punched gesso background. This chair is based on the celebrated set of dining chairs in the Marble Parlour at Houghton Hall.
